New Rug

One of my errands for this long weekend was to procure a new area rug for my living room. Not as easy as it sounds, really, since my personal taste runs away from the traditional "busy" patterned Persian rugs and one never knows if the more modern designs will appeal. Then, of course, there is the matter of the colour splash that is my apartment … and it could get quite complicated.

Turns out it was easier than I first imagined. T and I had found this particular rug about three months ago in a wonderful little shop in Kensington Market. The man there was terrific – yes, we dickered about the price, a bit, but that is just a matter of course in these sorts of transactions.

So, here it is … the picture here lies as there is a lot more green than blue in the rug. Similarly, my sofa is more green than blue … but this gives the gist of it … I think it looks great! And it is the perfect size to define "living" space from "dining" space.

I'm told this Gaboreh rug started out in a tent in Southern Iran amongst the Qashqai tribe.
