Last week, on the same day, I received two e-mails reminding me of aging. Or rather, demonstrating different approaches to aging … 🙂

Approach #1: Reality Check via Humour
Lisa Koch is a brilliant musical/comic genius from Seattle. She is one-half of the amazing comedy duo, Dos Fallopia.  Here is her very funny song Middle Aged Woman. At one point she is bemoaning her loss of memory and she says, "I must be a musician, cos I'm playing a guitar."

Or perhaps the Gravity Blues is more your style … ? "When I start a-wavin', my arm starts a-wavin' back … my skin has fallen and it can't git up … "

Approach #2: Healthy Avoidance!
My friend Ponyta is only two years younger than me. And yet, she is an enthusiastic long-boarder, which I find really pretty cool. She's made a video of the experience – that is an edit of her song "Daylight in the Swamp" from her album Fanfaria in the background.

I noticed something about myself today. My income has risen steadily over the past number of years – ok, I did not just notice that today. What I actually noticed is that as my income has gone up, my interest in buying things "on sale" or in getting a really good deal on something has also increased.

Conversely, back in the endless years when I didn't have two pins to rub together … I spent lavishly, even foolishly.

Shouldn't this be the other way around? Can anyone explain this to me?
